Yoooo I gotta be missing something, cause this game is f*cking terrifying! I am SCREAMING. Whats up with the house ghost??? I just want to hide from that skin walker. WHATS IN THE WELL??? WHO IS THAT. Can my crow friend please come back. 10/10
Though I have only played this game for about a day and so, it is very entertaining and bizarre! Love the art style, very similar to "Don't Starve". The music and sound effects are also very good! It's fair fetched but if you need any more music for the game, I'm a young composer/musician and this game is up my alley. It would be cool! Anywho, its a good game! Cant wait for a full thing!
Long comment, apologize but I just LOVE this game and its concept. Those chill farm games like stardew valley with the cross of horror is something I’ve never seen before, I think you are on the cusp of something genre-breaking and may even make a new subgenre. I really want to support you and I know as soon as I have some extra cash I’m going to donate with the hopes you can make this an actual full game, I know I would buy a full release for something like $20-25 CND (because I’m Canadian). First of all, the style and is genuinely pretty despite it being an obvious first draft of the game (Mean this positively). I think the whole texture of the solid colours being either a fabric or almost crayon look compliments the ‘cute’ aesthetic, which intentional or not I think could be extremely effective if played around with. But also, in a weird way I compare the style of the art in the same way the game Little Nightmares perfectly uses its style to further feature the game’s ‘feelings’. The art style gives the feeling of vertigo, like your about to fall over when standing over an edge or cliff. Being that everything is overgrown, morphed or disfigured in a way that feels like a child’s perception of the world- especially a scared child is so ingenious. So, with this game using it’s ‘cute’ and classic chill game vibes it creates such a harsh contrast with the horror aspect and highlights the potential scares in my opinion. And as someone who loves monsters, draws a lot of monsters, and would love to help create/build concept art, I think making the monster art jarringly realistic or in a different style could also be effective. At the moment I do have some critiques of how the monsters currently look, as when in game its effective to cause a scare I think theres a lot more that can be done. I’m not sure exactly which creatures you are using, I’m assuming it’s a notdear, Rake, and whatever the hell is the thing in the well- which I have a lot to say.
Starting with the Deer enemy, its hard to tell if you are going specifically for the entities of ‘Not Deer’ or of a Wendigo. As Wendigos are closer to the depiction of when you get too close to the deer enemy in game, only problem is that in the culture/folk lore of the Indigenous people, or at least to my knowledge, they don’t really try to disguise themselves. Wendigo’s are more hunters, they’re stalk and follow their prey before attacking but not try to fool them in the same way ‘Not Deer’ do. It might be too much work but potentially you could eventually separate this enemy into two different versions, one as the ‘Not Deer’ and the other as a Wendigo. I’m not as familiar with ‘Not Deer’ but from what I understand is that they are preditors that hind themselves as deer, just they’re all wrong. Walk weird, occasionally have some form of deformation like wolf eyes, or eyes recentered to be front facings, sickly and frail with odd behaviour, just a few examples. But for the game it would be interesting to see different ‘versions’ of this enemy spawn with slight variation of behavour, could also add to the game play loop as I found once I understood all the entities it was easy to survive. But for example, some ‘Not Deers’ could be more ‘aggressive’ in how they approach you but also have more obvious signs they’re not a deer. Which makes them easier to notice and deal with but if caught off guard quicker to get attacked, throw in events of normal deer grazing and even maybe eating your crops and it’ll encourage players to chase off the deer. Which if it’s a ‘Not Deer’ then acts as a jump scare when the thing grows teeth and eats them, or morphs and disfigured into something more monstrous. Then other ‘Not Deers’ can be more subtle like for example the eyes being distorted in some way, they hover around your farm and try to slowly approach you to then attack. Which if you have deer constantly around almost waiting for you to leave so they can eat your crops I can imagine how someone could be caught off guard or even ignoring the entity mistaking it as another deer.
Then for the Rake or whatever is the pale naked thing that chases you, I think its pretty good but little changes would make it more threatening. Being that the game is so small I understand introducing the enemies so quickly but I can’t help but wonder what kind of build up could be done in a full game, especially if you market the game as a ‘normal farming game :)’. Like for the first 3-5 days its just you farming but slowly you start to hear weird sounds in the forest at night, its vaguely human. But it grows more frequent to not only just at night, then have eyes looking at you when its dark from the forest and boom you got people terrified. I feel this would be especially good if you have that weird reflective glare that animals have when at night, were its almost that glassy green colour. Anyways, point is that giving the Rake more ‘stalking’ behavior or even times where it’ll come out when you don’t expect can cause more chaos and threat to it. While I find all the monsters super well choreographed, in terms of sound queues, there’s a certain balance where you want them to be understandable but also unpredictable to make them feel like a fair threat. One example I have is that maybe you leave ‘offering’ to these entities to try and reduce the amount they’ll attack you in order to deal with them, the longer you don’t appease them the more they’re try to attack or hell maybe even sabotage you. Maybe the rake is smart enough to start tampering with your tools, or leave certain things the player values out close to the fence by the forest. Somewhere it’ll be much easier for it to grab you when it wants, maybe it takes advantage of the fact you can’t see well in the dark and use sounds to corral you to a corner. These are all just suggestions I have no idea how you would implement if you do.
About the monsters, I have based on the appearance of some popular creatures, but their behaviors on the game are not based on the respective behaviors of the real monsters.
Really like the game, so much fun and the artstyle is a 10/10. My only complaint is the deer. It's kinda annoying if you keep dying because you run into the deer when you need to run back to the house. Or is there a way to make the deer go away after a while that I don't know off. Other than that it's a great game, just kinda annoying if the deer is constantly there.
Unfortunately no way I know of. It seems to prefer hanging around the middle field and doesn't venture to the sides, though if given the chance it will follow you onto the dock.
I managed to win by essentially running in circles around the farm and using all four keys so I could slip through to the opposite side. If you manage to 'aggro' the deer, it does settle after a certain amount of time. I don't know exactly how long it takes, unfortunately.
You can throw it off by being inside and stepping close to the door, just enough to open the door. The deer will become aggressive, but it will run off in some other direction because you're inside.
Love this game to death. Couldnt put it down. I do hope a survival mode gets added for replayability, maybe with increasing difficulty some kind of hunger mecanic? Either way, scared me shitless and was super fun!
Do you have a set of headphones because I have no trouble personally, I know that if I don't have my headset on or there's background noise I can't find him at all.
I mean this as a great threat, i have done no other research nor shall I, you are the first person I've seen post anything about a speedrun. I will beat your time
Loved it. Still had some issue tho. Felt really crappy to lose to a deer because he decided to eat some grass in front of the doorway and I stuck inside because of it.
Dude this is one of the best game I ever seen I wish I can play it but I only have mobile I enjoy all of the videos that I see about it and everything you're the best dude for real thank you for this great game
ps is this game going to maybe be in Mobile in the future
thank you very much for answering I'm glad you seen my comment and I'm excited for it even if you do it or not the game is still really great good luck on your projects dude
bruh I beat the game. its nice to find stuff like this still being made, I would love to see more done to this game like more creatures, and more areas or even more story. cause well... I max out every thing already and beat it with in 30 min
I saw someone mention something about a pumpkin panic discord, is this a for sure gonna happen thing or just a possibility. I know it could make getting notified of new updates and making a strong community for it a lot more convenient. so I’m personally in favor but I have no idea how hard it is to host a discord server or any of the logistics so if it doesn’t ever happen thats find I was just curious on your thoughts about it
If a discord is made please let me know, I have an obscene amount of thoughts about this game. Its amazing how such a small game is this good, especially the whole concept of a chill farm game turn horror survival.
This game has such potential to be the next hidden gem for this decade and I recommend making this game more challenging, like making this game have a well-written lore, story, or even adding more characters. I recommend Bilalaika make more maps and consider these maps as a level like the backrooms. Every time the pumpkin farmer manages to succeed at the level, the objectives should be harder every level like adding mechanics, hostile mobs, or mini-quests as you did with the clowns at night it's really impressive by the way. Your art style is perfect, not many games have that art style and as far as I observed through the internet, the art style attracts people around the internet including me. Add more music, especially that would make the player feel much more tense to enhance the horrific experience. If my messages manage to get the attention of Bilalaika, I would pay for this game.
I saw a video on this game, and it looks great! Looks challenging and has great graphics, I can't handle horror well so I'm probably not gonna play it but I just wanted to ask you, what's up with the well monster?
The game is both cute and scary, it's pretty nice.
It would be nice to have a more 'casual' game mode, one where you can save the game at the bed or something, everything else would still be there, but maybe as a penalty you would get less money per crop, forcing you to play for longer, but without the threat of losing everything and starting over, only losing a bit of progress or money or w/e would be balanced.
Or you could even have it become a rogue-lite game, where the character is basically stuck in a loop, forced to experience the same horrors over and over, and only leaving the island might end it.
Make upgrades be 1/25 or 1/50 instead of 1/10, and more expensive for the higher levels, but make them and coins permanent, allowing you to slowly progress further, but always being forced to suffer a horrible fate over and over until you eventually succeed.
Either that, or keep the upgrade system the same, but add a skill system where you get better at doing things as you keep doing them. This seems pretty hard to make and balance though as it would need to implement a whole new system into the game, especially since it would 'force' players into grinding certain skills instead of simply playing the game as was intended without proper balancing, but well done can add an extra layer to the game, where the player can rush certain upgrades in order to maximize EXP gain for certain skills. You can also go the inverse route, where upgrades are permanent, but skill reset each run, making players get better over time every run, possibly grinding some skills for the best effect early-game in order to give them an advantage mid or late-game.
In the end it's up to you if you want any of these changes, just some ideas to help you decide. The 'long term' gameplay mode would also help you add more things to the game, since once the first goal of getting a boat is achieved, you can re-use the same map and add some new things, giving players a new goal since the boat didn't solve the loop problem.
I finally finished the game (After raging lol) it's so cool & I saw a comment where you said you wanted to add levels or go to another map after we leave on the boat.. that would be so dope & it would be cool if the monsters got more violent or if there was a new one.. I like that you allow the player to figure out how to deal with the monsters instead of telling us how to beat them.. 12/10
Ever since I saw your game the first time you released it here I had the idea of playing your game on my channel, I just had so much to do and was off YouTube for more than a month! Now, I am back and it is a pleasure to try out your game concept... I love it and would love to see more content inside your game!
I loveddd this game so much.. I saw it on Instagram & finally played last night.. it def caught me off guard a bunch of times.. you did a fantastic job.. I cant wait to see more of your work :) ( it scared me so many times lol)
I made an itch.io account just to come here and tell you what a great job you did! The learning curve was just enough to make me wanna keep trying. The Monsters were fun and scary when unexpected! I got stuck on the clown, but then had to facepalm once I saw the flyer by my door. Haha. Being able to switch from keyboard to controller was flawless. I have a pc but some games i use a controller because my brain just works better that way. Thank you for that.
In my game I got all fish, all clothes, and maxed all power ups and survived at 40:18!
The only problem I had with it is when you were selecting the items at the work bench. I was playing with controller. When I used the d-pad to move between items it would actually move the player also and may move you out of range of the workbench, effectively closing the window on you. That made it kinda hard when I was trying to be quick about it.
Other than that, it's fantastic! Thank you so much!
Hello, I saw your game on this vtuber stream, she couldn't managed to finish it and then somebody else came to play and they couldn't managed either, looks like I hard game that I would enjoy playing XD
Check the timestamps because there are some games in the middle of the stream
So, I have some problems with the game, first of all, sorry if my english is kinda broken, its not my native language, and second, its very laggy and choppy for me, my PC configs are these that I know of
intel I5
12 gb RAM
64x bit
Windows 10
I really want to play this game! Please I need some help ;(
This was a perfect game! Even though it's a horror game, I felt very relaxed playing it! It even inspired me to make my own farming game! (though, with construct 3's limitations) best of luck with anything you are working on, future or present!
Great game so far. I'd love to see a save/checkpoint system as it's annoying to have to restart from tutorial every time I die. And, like other commenters, I've had a bit of issue following sound cues without headphones. I'm playing on a laptop with my partner so we need to use the speakers.
Aside from that, the gameplay and player progression is simple but very addictive. Keep up the excellent work!
okay so ... this is the best game I played since long. it's casual and at the same time it's not :D the sounds at night are scary as fu.. and the deers are fu scary. it's simple and cute. I am so hyped for more updates and maybe someday a launch on steam bcs I need achivements and the option to save xD <3
I have Windows 10 Enterprise and
I've tried everything.
It keeps writing that the archive is corrupted or
missing UnityPlayer.dll which is to install the computer.
Also when it says "unexpected end of archive"
I would love to play this game. I've been struggling
with this for 3 hours now and there's
nothing Ican do to play

MOST REAL REVEIW EVER
Thank you so much 😂😂😂
Can't lie I came for the comfy graphics and stayed to hate deer. 10/10
Can't wait for more, I wish there were more games mixing genres like this, amazing.
Thanks!! I'm so glad of your words <3

this game would actually be fund and good, but the clown ruins everything. Try to do something with the music please, i cant find him in time.
Do you have a set of headphones because I have no trouble personally, I know that if I don't have my headset on or there's background noise I can't find him at all.
I'm planning on updating the clowns to make it easier to find speacially if you're not wearing headphones.

Hey, I was wondering if you could post the main menu theme on spotify? Its super good! And I want to listen to it on there, if not I understand!
Hey! The song is not mine, you can find the original author here.
Loved it. Still had some issue tho. Felt really crappy to lose to a deer because he decided to eat some grass in front of the doorway and I stuck inside because of it.
Thank you so much! I little tip: You can trigger the deer and hide quickly again inside the house, he will run away :)
I literally made an account to say that I love this game and I hope you keep developing ♥
I really appreciate it <3

When I used the d-pad to move between items it would actually move the player also and may move you out of range of the workbench, effectively closing the window on you. That made it kinda hard when I was trying to be quick about it.
Other than that, it's fantastic! Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for all your feedback, it helps me a lot.
the game art is beautiful
Thanks!! <3
Hello, I saw your game on this vtuber stream, she couldn't managed to finish it and then somebody else came to play and they couldn't managed either, looks like I hard game that I would enjoy playing XD
Check the timestamps because there are some games in the middle of the streamThank you so much, I hope you can complete the game :)
Man, am I bad at avoiding the monsters. Good game, and that's really all I can say. However, a suggestion: A tip book for the monsters.
Thank you so much for your feedback!!

I can't help you with that.
For future updates I'm going to add a graphic options for low-end computers :)
thank you I want to play this game so bad and I thought it was going to be a smooth game, I cant wait to play fr fr!😖
This was a perfect game! Even though it's a horror game, I felt very relaxed playing it! It even inspired me to make my own farming game! (though, with construct 3's limitations) best of luck with anything you are working on, future or present!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that my game inspires you :)
Thanks! I looking for how to make the sound cues easier to follow when using speakers.
okay so ... this is the best game I played since long. it's casual and at the same time it's not :D the sounds at night are scary as fu.. and the deers are fu scary. it's simple and cute. I am so hyped for more updates and maybe someday a launch on steam bcs I need achivements and the option to save xD <3
Thank you so much for your feedback! I want to add achievements too :)
I am sorry to hear that. What operating system are you trying to play from?
You can try any of the following solutions:
- Download the game again.
- Run the game from the .zip (without extracting)
- Run the game after extracting the .zip (all 5 files must be together in the same folder)
- Install the game from the itchio app, or from the browser if you didn't already.
- You can find some tutorials on youtube on how to fix the "missing UnityPlayer.dll" problem.
Please tell me if you manage to solve the problem.
